On the closing night of our festival, as part of our film program, we'll be screening I Dream of Wires at the Institute of Contemporary Art. Robert Fantinatto's documentary is billed as a “film about the phenomenal resurgence of the modular synthesizer, exploring the passions, obsessions, and dreams of people who have dedicated part of their lives to this esoteric electronic music machine.” And in many regards, it's the perfect cap to our week-long program, largely because if it wasn't for those above referenced obsessives, there wouldn't be a Together. The sound procured from those machines is the closest thing we have to an auditory calling card. To see that in action, look no further than the fact that one of Fantianatto's featured interviewees will be taking up residence at the Lily Pad upon the conclusion of the screening.
After the screening their will be a discussion on modular synthesizers with Joe Paradiso (MIT), Dr. Richard Boulanger of Berklee and modular synth guru Keith Fullerton Whitman.
All ages, $8 students and ICA members/$12
