Leonie Bradbury and Maggie Cavallo, co-founders of Alter Projects, lead this discussion on the social, cultural and economic value of the arts. They will address how collaboration between the arts and business sectors can be for the better of both worlds.

The current cultural emphasis on creativity and innovation in various industries is impossible to ignore. The ability to develop creative ideas leads as one of today’s most marketable skills and the most critical issues of our time are being approached through new models dependent working across fields and industries. This atmosphere provides exciting opportunities for innovative collaboration between the arts and business sectors, for the development of better products, more engaged employees and a healthy arts ecosystem.  

In this presentation, Leonie Bradbury and Maggie Cavallo provide an introduction to the social, cultural and economic value of the arts, highlighting dynamic partnerships between contemporary artists and non-arts practitioners. They will also offer innovative models for how regional enterprises can feature dynamic arts experiences and collaborations within the culture of their company. 

Leonie Bradbury and Maggie Cavallo are the co-founders of Alter, an enterprise dedicated to social innovation with and for the arts. Bradbury is the Director and Curator of Montserrat College of Art Galleries and a PhD Candidate at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. Cavallo is the Curator of Education at Montserrat College of Art Galleries and a recent graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Education.
