Odyssey 617 & Social Studies, along with Together, are proud to invite you to Chapter 21 of the Some Like it Hott series with very special guest Justin Strauss

JUSTIN STRAUSS -NYC (Under The Shade, Southern Fried Records)

Few DJs could adequately represent the last three decades of New York nightclub history - no less do so with such iconic credentials as Justin Strauss. Since he was 17, when his first band was signed to Island Records, Justin has had a career that reads like a Who’s-Who of the music scene, spinning at nearly every dance club that you’d ever want to go to. Starting as DJ at New York’s legendary Mudd Club, he spun his way through The Ritz, Limelight, Area, Tunnel, M.K., Life, Centro Fly and more, pioneering his own distinctive sound, and becoming one of the most sought-after remixers and producers not just in New York, but in the world. He has worked with the gamut of artists - Depeche Mode, Sergio Mendez, Tina Turner, Jimmy Cliff, B-52s, Luther Vandross, Malcolm McClaren, Skinny Puppy, and Goldfrapp, to name a few– and on over 200 records!

Much of the new dance crowd that goes to hear Justin DJ today, whether at subMercer, The Standard, Highbar, Soho House, or Love, doesn’t necessarily know his history; they simply love his spinning because he always keeps them dancing and surprised, seamlessly mixing between choice classics, delectable rarities and innovative beats. For Justin, no genre or style is off-limits – he can and will mix anything, so long as he can keep the crowd enthralled. His self-proclaimed mission is “connecting the dots” between what might otherwise seem disparate musical periods and styles, while introducing exciting new sounds. He does so with infectious passion, subverting preconceptions about what’s old and new, and inspiring young DJs with his masterful skill and ever-youthful spirit.

But Justin Strauss doesn’t stop there. As half of the production duo, Whatever/Whatever, he continues to produce and mix records, working on remixes for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Beyonce, La Roux and more. In fact, he doesn’t stop at all. Like the amazing city he’s dedicatedly kept dancing since 1980, Justin just keeps going.

Supporting cast:

First we have a true legend to the adult industry: Caseroc, star of such movies as Blown in 60 Seconds, Field Of Wet Dreams & Star Whores. When not make trashy flicks, Caseroc enjoys raising money for retired wrestlers, refereeing Mexican cock fights and housing crowds at your favorite clubs in the greater Boston area. You can also catch him near Fenway Park feeding pigeons.

Next we have one of Boston's true main eventers, Brenden Wesley, star of such movies as I Know Who You Did Last Summer and Children of The Porn. When not making sleezy movies, Brenden spends his time going on long walks, weaving baskets, making future underground dance hits and DJing all over the 617, including a residency at Gallery.

Then there's the lady killer, Nick "love me two times" Mineri. When not hiding from jealous husbands, Nick is busy on the silver screen in perverted movies like Assablanca, Twin Cheeks & Throbin Hood. Besides being an avid Dwarf thrower, Mr. Mineri enjoys warm cereal, playing hopscotch at the YMCA and skipping rocks on the Cambridge side of the Charles River.

Also we have up and cummer, Matt Mello, a true renaissance man. When not spending his time on the big screen in filthy movies like Chitty Chitty Gang Bang, When Harry Ate Sally and On Golden Blonde, Matt spends his time sculpting bronze sculptures of over sized women and their pets. He also enjoys painting sunsets and sunrises and rocking the dance floor at his residency at SLIH.

Finally we have Alan Manzi aka The Handsome Half-Breed, star of the Some Like It Hott series. When not MILF hunting or getting drunk at the local playground, you can catch him somewhere in the 617 behind the 1's & 2's making all the ladies shake their hips.
