TUBA is Brooklyn's premier Bass Music and Dubstep label releasing in both 12" vinyl and digital formats. Artists on roster include JKenzo, Compa, Truth, DJG, Moldy, Daega Sound, and RDG. Through its’ roster and Brooklyn based event series, TUBA actively strives to bridge the gap between the N.American and European dubstep scenes.

Lineup:

-Bakir (TUBA NYC)

Ric Baker, better known as Bakir, has been involved at the forefront of the bass music scene in North America since 2008. With the formation of the San Francisco based live dubstep group The Spit Brothers, his solo productions and the founding of Dubs Alive Records, Bakir has been an influential player as a producer, performer, and label boss. He and The Spit Brothers were named one of S.F. Weekly’s Dubstep Ambassadors and have been featured performers at SXSW. His TUBA NYC imprint established in 2010 has amassed an impressive group of artists on its roster, including J:Kenzo, TRUTH, DJG, Compa, Moldy, Daega Sound, XI, AxH, Antiserum, The Spit Brothers, and Prism. The catalog is defined by its deep, forward thinking sound and its constant quality. Now based in Brooklyn, Bakir’s own productions are defined by his love of sub bass, percussion, and dark atmospherics that are further informed by his background as a jazz trumpet player and composer. He has releases on Interchill, Crux, Dubs Alive, TUBA, Brap Dem, Full Melt, Voltage, and Kush Arora Productions.

Moldy (TUBA / Bassic Boston

Boston based producer Ennis Glendon aka Moldy crafts dark, mind-bending sound system music with an unwavering minimal approach. Amidst an ever-changing electronic music landscape, Moldy has stayed true to his sound, refusing to bargain with the mainstream.

“Moldy’s sound has maintained the same anxious, eerie, perverse sensibility that it always has, which has an impact on people on a dance floor that is hard to describe without witnessing it firsthand.” – Dave Q (Boston Globe, 3/14/13).

A veteran DJ of over fifteen years, Moldy is a resident at the long running Boston party BASSIC, where he is currently conducting experiments with a new strain of deviant, slower rhythms of his own design.

Recognized as a pioneer of the US dubstep movement and fixture at the legendary Dub War parties in New York City, his productions have garnered support from top names in the underground, leading to the formation of his Heavy Pressure Recordings imprint in 2006 and releases on labels including ‘Earwax, Embassy, and TUBA.

-Prism (TUBA NYC)

Boston-based producer Prism (Dave Hanson) has been gaining a lot of notoriety as his career and creative work continues to expand and evolve. Within less than a year he has been awarded two ‘Tune of the Month’ spots in UK Based Mixmag, radio play on BBC Radio 1 by Skream, featured on ITunes’s New & Noteworthy Singles, and received plenty of praise & support from the likes of Mala, Chef, N-Type, Quest, Om Unit, Joe Nice and Appleblim. Already slated for another vinyl release in the fall with remixes by Turkish prodigy Gantz which recently saw play from Vivek at the second Reconstrvct Anniversary, Prism doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. His DJing isn’t to be underplayed in comparison to his production either; playing alongside such notable artists as J:Kenzo, Squarepusher, Mount Kimbie, Silkie, Kahn, Heny G, Razor Rekta, Cessman, Distal & Wheez-ie to name a few.

Prism is a multifaceted artist. Designing artwork for countless labels, writing & directing music videos for himself and other producers, as well as creating music at a myriad of different genres & tempos, he is certainly one to keep on your radar.
